Overview

Tagging allows you to categorize your transactions, making it easier to review them. Moreover, you can leverage tags directly within rules, providing more flexibility and precision in rule creation.

Tagging on the Transactions page

You can add tags to transactions from the Transactions page of the Admin panel.

In the Tags column, select Click to add new. Add a new tag or select one in the pop-up window and hit Save once you’re done. You can add 50 tags to a transaction at once and 100 altogether. A single tag cannot exceed 256 characters in length.

You will also see tags added by others on your SEON team for categorization and enhanced collaboration and transparency.

Tags in velocity rules

You can use tags in velocity rules, allowing for more granular and precise rule configurations. Integrating tags into velocity rules ensures a more comprehensive and efficient rule management system.

Use cases for tagging

Tags help flag the transactions and guide subsequent actions, determining what the next steps should be and which team should follow up on the transaction. Here are a few instances where you can majorly benefit from using tags on transactions:

Optimizing verification processes with tag monitoring

A compliance officer wants to use tags to track and monitor the outcomes of KYC processes to ensure compliance and improve the verification workflow.

By introducing tags such as “KBAs Attempted,” “KBAs Not Completed,” “KBAs Passed,” and “Not Verified” and creating a velocity rule to flag accounts that frequently fail KBA or are marked as “Not Verified”, they can identify patterns that might suggest identity theft or other compliance risks.

By tracking the effectiveness and outcomes of the KYC process, the compliance officer can refine verification strategies, reducing compliance risks and improving onboarding efficiency.

Enhancing customer segmentation for marketing campaigns

A marketing manager wants to tag transactions based on customer behavior and preferences so that they can create targeted marketing campaigns to increase customer engagement and sales.

By introducing tags such as “Reviewed,” “Ads,” “Search,” “Ads/Search,” and “AI” to categorize transactions based on customer interactions and marketing touchpoints and using these tags to create a velocity rule that monitors which tags are most frequently associated with successful transactions, they can then tailor marketing campaigns to emphasize channels and messages that align with these successful tags.

This helps create more personalized and effective marketing campaigns, leading to higher conversion rates and customer retention.

Fraud detection enhancement through high-frequency tags

A fraud analyst wants to monitor transactions with specific tags that are frequently associated with fraudulent activities so that they can quickly identify and take action against potentially fraudulent transactions.

Once they have tagged a significant amount of transactions with the same tag, such as “Egypt Fraud Ring” or “Ghost Brokers”, indicating repeated fraudulent attempts from these entities, they can set up a velocity rule to track transactions with these tags to trigger an alert for further investigation.

This use case enables quick identification and blocking of repeated fraudulent attempts, protecting the company from financial losses.
